Our PYO fruit is NOW CLOSED for this season. We started early and have had magnificent Strawberries, Gooseberries, Blackcurrants and Red currants. The Raspberries suffered from the cold winter and were not so productive. The Black berries too were not as good. I ahve frozen masses of fruit for the year's Jam supply too!
Thanks to all our customers and visitors its been the best season so far for us.. A full report will follow once I have got me breath back!! We still have some events this year which involve food, and children's Birthday parties.. check out the events page.
We have welcomed many pickers from many nationalities and ages in groups families and individuals. Lots of school groups have made us their venue for their school outing and have been so excited at picking their own strawberries. All have behaved really well and treated the field and fruit with great respect. We have enjoyed visits from Older people from residential homes and special needs groups. we have offered trailer rides and Jam making demonstrations and guided walks around the fruit field. Our senses have been excited!! We have also held some super birthday parties with pizza making and picking fruit being highlights along with trailer rides.
You may have seen the strawberries ( and me) on BBC East Midlands TV!. and we were covered in the Sunday Telegraph feature of Pick your Owns on Sunday June 5th .
We'll keep you posted with all our FRUITY news here throughout the season.
